O Gracious Light

Photobucket

O gracious Light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.

We read this, the oldest recorded hymn outside the Bible, at our small group once a week. I can't think of a better way to praise God for the beauty we have in snow.
The Lord has put the idea of "purity" on my mind this month. It's something I honestly don't think much about. But I've been feeling the burden on my heart to seek cleanliness (not just righteousness or goodness) and to be free of mixed motives. The snow is such a good reminder of that. If you haven't sought purity in a while, I highly recommend it. The Lord has been so good to restore me, I want to whisper reverent proclamations to even the tiniest mite.

they were here first

Good morning, Monday! Hello friends.
Photobucket

This is the week I ramp up and prepare for my little lovie students to come back. I'm so excited! Excited that they are coming, and thankful that my energy is coming back to me. I took off nearly two weeks because I had so exhausted myself last semester. And yesterday morning, while visiting a very high church I felt myself slipping even further into the winter blues. But there's nothing to keep you present, clinging to reality, like three loud gongs and incense. Thank you Lord!

I have hopes for this week.

Regarding my personal goal for 2012, I hope to pray about when peace is important, and when feeling displaced or stretched is okay.

Regarding work, I hope to pray for fresh vision from God, and a fresh love for the campus.

And let's be honest, I hope to keep thinking about the last 10th of Mockingjay.

spend my life

I'm finding this song to be a sweet lullaby tonight.

In a culture that values infidelity and greed,
this song surrounds my mind with romantic montages of a dedicated life together.
