So, after a brief work meeting Monday night, we went to see The Books play a free show. It was glorious; the weather, the friends, the lights, and the perfectly ambient music. I like The Books very much, their songs are definitely made to be performed live.

I've been working mostly evenings so I don't feel like I've had a super summery summer, yet. (Although I'm sure that notion would be corrected by a reflection on the past few weeks.) But this was a good reminder to make space for more summer in my life.

(Please note the dramatic fog I ordered to stream around 30 seconds in to the video ... kidding. But how dramatic, right?)

After the show, we went to Elspeth's home for a bit. Friends are priceless. And so are 1 am trips on the Red Line. We met a very interesting and nice man, as well as some interesting but scary men. Without thinking about it, we definitely ride in train cars full of fascinating people.

Jake and I leave for a very summery adventure tomorrow, yahoo!

okay, i wanted to respond to your comment...

you ARE unique, and don't ever question that! sometimes i swear i must be from another planet because i don't always feel like i fit in here, so you thinking you were an alien princess who would be taken home isn't nuts at all! now i probably sound a bit nuts, but it's a risk i'm willing to take! my uncle always says that he's waiting to be taken to his home planet one day! see, you're not the only one who feels that way!
