Where I've Been | Montana Edition

This is the final installment, folks. At least for summer 11. Does September mean fall time? I think the blog world jumps into seasons a little early, maybe because it's such a consumeristic community, so I'm holding on to my summer memories tightly. (Fall time is truly truly the best. But for now, let's revel.)

Because this ... this summer I knew it was dreams in the making even when I was in the middle of it!

Sometimes there is nothing more empowering than taking public transit and navigating an airport alone. In order to get to O'Hare I had to run across traffic on the highway and jump on the blue line. Since I'd be meeting Jake at the gate, I went through security alone (with illegal liquids!) and man, there is nothing more inspiring than an airport.

We met at the gate, flew to Seattle, ran to our connecting flight, and puddle-jumped to the Kalispell, MT airport. When I got off the plane the smell of pine hit my lungs so hard that I seriously thought it was air freshener!

My mother-in-law picked us up, it was almost 2 am. We spent the night at a hotel and woke up at 6 am to drive through Glacier National Park and meet the rest of the family at the continental divide for a hike:

The rest of the time was spent with Jake's second cousins. It's an interesting thing,
marriage and the smooshing together of families. This scene made me feel right at home -

My sis-in-law, with these seven-year-old twins who definitely just participated in a mini triathlon -

We took grandma white water rafting -

The hardest part about photographing mountains is getting perspective. They were massive! Can you spot the cars on the far right side of this photo? -

What a remarkable way to bookmark the end of our summer. There are few things more romantic to me than travel. And as I've written before, God often uses mountains to speak to me; this trip was no exception.

Taylor, you may already know this song but it is one of my favorites and reminds me a lot of you and your love for mountains which is a love I share :)
