Since Jake surprised me with an awesome first anniversary trip, I wanted to surprise him this year. We took off a day of work last week and skipped town.

I picked him up from work at 10 in the morning and drove for an hour. I said "goodbye city" and he asked "what?" I said "it's going to be another hour but we have snacks in the back." I also packed him a change of clothes. He guessed where we were going, but at least I kept this trip secret of mine last longer than his did last year.
We listened to Explosions in the Sky and La Quiete on the way and landed at Starved Rock. We arrived and walked for hours. We talked about nothing important. Besides the plot of a book we're both reading. It was so quiet. I loved the cold wind and his warm face. I wonder what in the world this year will bring. And I can't wait.
Happy second anniversary, dearest.
So so precious. And year 3 will be wonderful & horrible and everything in between. :) Love you guys as a couple. So happy that the Lord put you together--you guys are blessed.
ReplyDeletethe way you two love and grow in marriage is so beautiful. honestly, it encourages me so much.
ReplyDeleteThat's so lovely. You two SHARE the love you have for each other with each other, which I'm realizing more and more is what makes marriage so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope my anniversaries can be escapes like yours have been! Any chance a little birdie can tell my husband that? ;)
